One thing is for sure: The O’Fallon Brewery of Saint Louis, Missouri has a lot of pumpkin beers. In fact, the only  brewery that I can think of with more is Seattle’s Elysian, and that is saying something, because Elysian has a lot of pumpkin beers. Last year, I picked up four pumpkin beers from O’ Fallon: Jack O’ Latte Pumpkin Coffee Milk Stout, Salted Caramel Pumpkin Beer, Maple Bacon Pumpkin Spiced Red Ale, and Vanilla Pumpkin Beer.

The latter two I drank and took notes on, but have yet to publish a review here. So may beers, so little time. Anyway, I am here today because I picked up two more this year: Pumpkin Cheesecake Cream Ale and the beer I am here to expound upon today, O’Fallon Pumpkin Seed Oktoberfest Beer.

Now, in my time I have had quite a few beers made with pumpkin, and lots made with pumpkin spice. Beers made with pumpkin seeds, however, are far fewer. In fact, I can only think of one: Elysian Night Owl Pumpkin Ale. They do add a unique toasty flavor to a pumpkin beer, which I was looking for here-and found.

O’Fallon says:

Two fall favorite beers combined. We designed a traditional German style Oktoberfest lager and added toasted Pumpkin seeds to the mash to accentuate the rich nutty malt character of the style. No other pumpkin flavor or spice is added, leaving just the natural characteristics of this classic beer.

O’Fallon Pumpkin Seed Oktoberfest Beer has an alcohol content of 5.8% by volume with 18 IBUs. I paid $2.88 for my can from Craftshack. This is the only pricing information I have. My can is marked 08/12/22 on the bottom.

O’Fallon Pumpkin Seed Oktoberfest Beer pours to a bright orange color with a thick creamy head and a nose of caramel and nutty malt. Taking a sip, the beer again hints at caramel and slightly nuttier malts than the nose offered. The pumpkin seeds come through next, toasty and salty, and the salt dries the beer in the finish.

This work very well, better even than it sounded. I will be on the lookout for this one again.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
