So I went to see Supergirl, and I thought it was quite good. Not everyone seems to agree with me, but hey, I'm an old school beer geek AND an old school comic book addict. It hit the target with me on the latter point as a classic Superman/Supergirl style space opera. You, of course, did not come here for a movie review, you came here for a beer review, so I will get to the point. In one scene, Supergirl is on a faraway planet, getting a slushy in a convenience store. It being a very hot day outside, I decided that was a good idea, and when I came home, I popped open a can of Out of Order Cherry Dip Cone by rar Brewing of Maryland.
Previous rar beers I had enjoyed had been quite slushy like, but this one being called a cherry dip cone, I should have known better. rar warns the beer could ferment further if not refrigerated. You might not think some extra fermentation would be a bad thing, but you will when the CO2 produced pops the top on your can. Who needs that? I put mine in the hall beer fridge as soon as I got it. It sat in there for about a year before I drank it.
rar Out of Order Cherry Dip Cone has an alcohol content of 5% by volume. My can had no freshness dating. rar calls it an American Sour in style.

Tasting Notes
RAR Out of Order Cherry Dip Cone pours to a pinkish white cherry ice cream color with no head but a thick, viscous milk shake consistency. It was so thick the mouth of the can kept getting stopped up and I had to squeeze the can to get it all out. The nose is tart cherry ice cream, and taking a sip, the beer has a thick milk shake mouthfeel with creamy vanilla and tart cherry. The cherry ice cream vibe is solid here, and this is far more a cherry ice cream milk shake with alcohol than a beer. There is a cherry cheesecake note too with the sourness in the finish.
Value & Verdict
I paid $6.49 for my pint can from Half Time. Total Wine sells it for $20.99 a 4-pack in their Greenwood, Indiana store where they currently list it as in stock.
Smooth and drinkable, I very much enjoyed this beer and can imagine enjoying a glass with a plate piled high with Swedish meatballs. I'll be looking for more of it, as well as other entries in the series.
