Perfekte Zeit Wheat Pale Ale

Here’s another beer from the Biergarten Collection box of German brews I got recently from Costco: Perfekte Zeit Wheat Pale Ale. You don’t see a lot of German pale ales, though is no reason you shouldn’t. Pale ales can easily be Reinheitsgebot compliant, after all. Perfekte Zeit Wheat Pale Ale is brewed by Brauerei Eichbaum (Eichbaum means oak tree). This is not the first beer I have enjoyed from Eichbaum, as the European Beer Collection box I also got from Costco about a year before contained a can of their Löwe vom Rhein Hefeweizen.

The importer, Webster Barnes, says this about the brewery:

Founded in 1679 as a small brewpub by Mannheim’s councilor, Jean du Chêne. The name evolved, morphing into the German equivalent or “Eichbaum”. The brewery has remained based in Mannheim, creating quality beers that have been popular through the ages.

Mannheim is located in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, which lies to the east of Bavaria. Perfekte Zeit means perfect time in German, and I enjoyed my can on a warm September evening, the perfect time for a beer indeed.

Eichbaum Perfekte Zeit Wheat Pale Ale has an alcohol content of 5.1% by volume and I paid $2.50 for my can ($59.95 for the collection divided by 24). That is an amazing deal. My can was stamped 30.06.2025 on the bottom, so best by June 20th next year. The label states this beer was canned by Malcom SA in Poland, but brewed by Eichbaum.

Eichbaum Perfekte Zeit Wheat Pale Ale pours to a hazy orange amber color with a thick fluffy white head of foam and a nose of soft fruit and crackery wheat. Taking a sip the beer is smooth and medium bodied, lightened slightly by the wheat. It offers up subtle notes of citrus and stone fruit and finishes balanced with a gentle bitterness.

I enjoyed this one, and would certainly buy it again.

Other beers in this collection:

Rittmayer Hallendorf 1422 Festbier

Irlbacher Premium Vollbier Hell

Klosterbrau Neuzeller Anas Geheimnisse

Georg Rittmayer Rauchbier

Rhaner Export Dunkel

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
