Eibauer Dunkler Bock
Review Date 10/12/2025 By John Staradumsky
I'm diving into the second half of my Biergarten Collection box at Costco with beer 13, Eibauer Dunkler Bock. There were several Eibauer beers included in the box, but bocks always get my attention, and although I am late writing a full review for this website, I drank the beer on October 27th of 2024. This was shortly after I bought the collection in September. Bocks don't last long chez bruguru. As I type, I have already picked up the 2025 edition of the Biergarten Collection, which includes a double bock by Eibauer under the St. M brand.
The Eibauer website is not the best and this beer is not listed there. is a page two under Produkte but the link is broken. The Webster Barnes webite for the 2024 box is still up though and they say this about the brewery:
Established in 1810 by King Friedrich August I (King of Saxony), the Eibau brewery was the first country brewery in the Zittau area. Gaining notority first for their traditional Black beer that remains a staple.
Eibauer Dunkler Bock has an alcohol content of 6.7% by volume according to my can label and I paid $2.50 for my can ($59.95 for the collection divided by 24). That is an amazing deal. My can was stamped

Eibauer Dunkler Bock pours to a dark brown color with a luscious toasty nutty malt nose. Taking a sip, the beer is medium to more in body. It’s rich and chewy with toasty nutty melanoidin notes. Malty and delicious and finishes with a gently bitter balancing hop bitterness. As it so happens, I drank my can of St. M Dunkel Bock yesterday while watching football, and my notes reflect a beer excatly like this one. Basically the same beer under two different labels.
Judged to style and hedonistically, I give this one 4.5 stars out of five. It really is a wonderful doppelbock, my faborite style of beer. Factor in the rock bottom price and I am bumping it up to a full 5 rating. This is a beer I would love to buy a 4-pack of, even if the price was higher.
Other beers in this collection:
Rittmayer Hallendorf 1422 Festbier
Irlbacher Premium Vollbier Hell
Klosterbrau Neuzeller Anas Geheimnisse
Klosterbrauerei Neuzeller Traditions Gebräu Imperial Porter
Eichbaum Perfekte Zeit Wheat Pale Ale
Irlbacher Premium Weihnachts Festbier
Eichbaum Der Kletterer Red Lager
Glad I tried it?
