I got an email from Stout’s Growlers here in Canton today, saying they are now offering curbside service. This was great news, because as COVID-19 continues to get worse across America, the only way to defeat it is to avoid human contact as much as possible. Now, as I sip, tomorrow makes a month without Taco Mac thanks to this accursed virus. I am in severe draft beer withdrawal, and I know that is selfish; many people are going through so much worse right now. It is, as they say, a first world problem.

But, Stout’s Growlers to the rescue! I ordered my crowler fills online, added a bottle of a Terrapin specialty brew, paid  for it, drove to the store, opened my trunk, called them and out they came with my beer. So easy! Thanks to all that, I’m here to tell you about Wrecking Bar Jemmy Stout. I have had it at the brewery in Atlanta before, but I am glad to be enjoying it again tonight, supporting Stouts, and supporting the Wrecking Bar.

Wrecking Bar says:

With 11 different grains used in the brewing process, this is one of the more complex stouts out there. Several different roasted barleys, wheats, oats, and caramelized grains yield hints of bread, toffee, dark fruits, chocolate and coffee. Just enough hops for balance, and a traditional English yeast for true stout character.

My crowler can says Jemmy Stout has an alcohol content of 6.4% by volume. Untappd says the beer has 65 IBUs. I paid $10.25 for my 32-ounce crowler at Stout’s.

Wrecking Bar Jemmy Stout pours to a jet-black color with a thick creamy tan head and a sinful roasty coffee nose. Taking a sip, the beer is medium to full in body with rich dark roasty notes, fluffy dark chocolate, coffee grinds, a hint of licorice, and a long dry roasty bitter finish.

Wrecking Bar Jemmy Stout is amazingly roasty, chocolaty, coffeeish, and roasty bitter at the last. I think I just said all that, but this one is so good I had to say it again. In these dark times it is so sad I can’t go to The Wrecking Bar. Thanks to Stout’s Growlers, though, The Wrecking Bar came to me.
