Hit this fine brewpub last week to sample the line up of three years of Willi Whammer barleywine they had on tap, plus a few of their other house beers and selections from their fantastic tap lineup. If Willimantic had to survive on their own brews they would do just fine, but with about 20 taps as well you get the best of both worlds, brewpub and multi-tap.
The 2000 IPA was an excellent beer. While it still does not displace Trinity's version of the style as my favorite among New England brewpubs, this beer was a very hoppy one. Cloudy orange in color, minimal head, fruity hoppy nose. Palate had a huge grapefruity citric character, the hops *are* the beer, malt doesn't stand a chance, wonderful bitter-citric hop finish. Cut nicely through an extra-spicy order of chicken tenders, went nicely with my usual bowl of French onion soup here.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
