Hi there beer lovers! It’s me, your friendly neighborhood Bruguru, back with another tasty beer from the Wiley Roots brewing company of Greely, Colorado: Route 44 Pool Party Slush. It was only a week ago I enjoyed their Broadband Brut IPA, both beers courtesy of my friend Dale Roberts.
This is an entry in the brewery’s Route 44 series, which also offers a watermelon limeade slush and a double cherry limeade gose. These beers are a take on the roadside burger joint slushies (Sonic anyone?), and the Wiley logo on the cans erven resembles that of Sonic.
Wiley Roots Route 44 Pool Party Slush is fashioned after a mojito. It is brewed with limes and mint, just like a real mojito, but apparently not the rum that so inspires that drink. The beer has an alcohol content of 4.6% by volume, adding to the drinkability.
Wiley Roots Route 44 Pool Party Slush pours to a bright orange-yellow color with a thick but short lived head and a nose full of lime and spearmint. Taking a sip, the beer is light wheaty in body with strong notes of mint, tart lime, a pinch of sugar sweetness, and a dry sour finish. Only the rummy notes are missing but this is tasty and refreshing.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
