Pumpkin Spice Donut Belgian-Style Tripel

The label leapt out at me: Wild Leap Pumpkin Spice Donut! You see what I did there? Wild Leap leapt out at me? Where are you going? Come back here! I promise I won’t do that again. But hey, it really did get my attention, so I decided to take a wild leap and placed the cart in my can. Wait! OK that’s the last time! I promise!

Inspecting the label a bit more closely, I discovered that it further described the beer as a Belgian-Style Tripel with Pumpkin Spice. That was something new. I have had a lot of pumpkin beers, and a lot of Belgian-style tripels, but this may be the first time the two have ever intersected for me.

Wild Leap says:

Featuring traditional spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and clove for a festive pumpkin beer.

This ale was crafted to taste like our favorite fall treat, the Pumpkin Spice Donut. We think you are gonna love it.

Wild Leap Pumpkin Spice Donut has an alcohol content of 9.5% by volume with 13 IBUs. I did not see it in six-packs and have no pricing information. My can has no freshness dating. You could call this a tripel, or a spiced beer, or a pumpkin ale and not be wrong. I will call it a pumpkin ale myself.

Wild Leap Pumpkin Spice Donut pours to a hazy orange color with a medium fluffy white head and a nose of chunky pumpkin and spice. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body with notes of clove, ginger, pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The triple adds rock candy and pineapple notes, and a hint of funk. The beer finishes a bit sweeter than I would like, and does not really suggest a Donut to me. Still, the spices work well together, and I am enjoying this.

My first pumpkin spice triple? I think this is it, and although again I am not getting the donut theme, this is a very tasty beer and one to sip, savor, and enjoy.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
