Take a wonderful soft malty coffee brown ale like Wild Heaven Ode to Mercy, charge it with nitrogen and package it and a can and what do you get? A soft malty coffee brown ale with a smooth creaminess that’s just delicious. The beer I’m talking about is Wild Heaven Ode to Mercy Nitro Coffee Brown Ale “Nitrode”.
From the website:
Our one-of-a-kind brown ale is finished with nitrogen for a beautifully layered flavor and an incredibly smooth mouthfeel. Nodding to Belgium and England, it’s balanced with oak and coffee notes and a creamy, roasty finish.
Wild Heaven Ode to Mercy Nitro Coffee Brown Ale “Nitrode” has an alcohol content of 7.2% by volume with 40 IBUs. It is pricey at $9.99 a 4-pack.
Wild Heaven Ode to Mercy Nitro Coffee Brown Ale “Nitrode” pours to a soft ruby brown color with a thick creamy head from the nitro pour and a robust cold brew coffee nose. A thick layer of Brussels Lace forms on the sides of my glass and follows the liquid to the bottom of the glass. Taking a sip, the beer has sweet cookie malts and hints of brown sugar up front subsumed quickly by subtly roasty coffee grind notes. The beer finishes roasty dry and makes you want another sip.
I really enjoyed Wild Heaven Ode to Mercy Nitro Coffee Brown Ale “Nitrode”. The coffee and soft malts are wonderful here. I'll give this one 4 1/2 stars less 1/2 for the missing two cans.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
