Funhaus German-Style Pils
Review Date 9/23/2024 By John Staradumsky
This used to be a Funhouse! But now it’s full of evil clowns! Those lyrics from the eponymous P!nk song from her album Funhouse ran through my brain as I took a sip of Funhaus German-Style Pilsner from the
Wild East Brewing Company of Brooklyn, New York.
Wild East says:
Crisp & clean German-style pils, brewed using a decoction mash and Tettnang hops. Subtly sweet, crackery pilsner malt is balanced with peppery, herby hops, creating an easy-drinking lager with a dry finish.
This was my first ever beer from Wild East, and it was an impressive one. I was happy to see the brewery producing classic styles like pilsner, stout, pale ale, and even a table beer.
Funhaus German-Style Pilsner has an alcohol content of 4.7% by volume and I paid $5.99 for my can from Half Time Beverage. This is the only pricing information that I have. The label is marked 3/11/24 which is IO
assume the packaging date. I drank my can on September 5th.
Wild East Funhaus German-Style Pilsner pours to a light straw color with a towering white head of foam and a nose of crisp biscuity pilsner malt. Taking a sip, the crisp biscuity malt is as present in the palate as it is in the nose. The beer bursts with fresh malt from the kiln flavor, followed by a sharp grassy hop bingers that lingers long and leaves the beer dry.
An excellent German style pilsner, the decoction makes all the difference here with the crisp clean maltiness.
Glad I tried it? T
Would I rebuy it??
