Santa's on the Juice NEIPA

Review Date 1/6/2021  By John Staradumsky

Santa’s on the Juice! And can you blame him? It’s hard work tarveling all around the world in one night and delivering presents to good little boys and girls everywhere. Santa deserves a present of his own, and Wild Barrel brewing of San Marcos, California gives it to him (and us) in the form of Santa’s on the Juice NEIPA.

This is my first beer from Wild Barrel, and an impressive one indeed. There is no listing for it on the Wild Barrel website, so I can only tell you that I got it from Craftshack for $4.79 but cannot find any other pricing data for it. The beer has an alcohol content of 8.2% by volume and is dry hopped w/ Vic Secret, Cascade & Citra hops.

Wild Barrel Santa’s On the Juice NEIPA pours to a very hazy orange color with a thick fluffy white head and an inviting citrusy nose. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body with deep seated citrus notes of orange and tangerine, grapefruit and grapefruit zest, a minty herbal leafy hop aroma permeating (the dry hopping) and a zesty bitter finish.

I very much enjoyed this beer; it’s just how I like my New England IPAs. Doubly so for a DIPA NEIPA. As a Christmas Ale, it adds a little citrusy brightness to those cold winter nights.

And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
