Rise American Pale Ale

Whalers Brewing Company! I tried my first beer from Whalers Brewing Company! Whalers is from South Kingstown, Rhode Island, you see, and I do not see a lot of Rhode Island beers here in Georgia (only Narragansett). I was born in Rhode Island, and mostly grew up there, and Massachusetts. So when Half Time Beverage had Whalers Rise American Pale Ale available, you know I was all over that.

Rise American Pale Ale is one of Whalers flagship beers. You need to know that. I donít know why, but you do. The brewery says on their website:

Whalers says:

A bright citrus aroma leads to a pleasantly smooth body with a subtle hop spice that lingers in the background.

Whalers Rise American Pale Ale has an alcohol content of 5.5% by volume and I paid $2.99 for a 12 ounce can from Half Time, which seems a decent price to me. Total Wine sells it for $10.99 a six-pack in Norwalk, Connecticut. Thatís an even decenter price. My can was stamped CANNED ON 05/30/24 on the bottom.

Whalers Rise American Pale Ale pours to a hazy orange amber color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of ripe melon and tropical fruit. Taking a sip the beer is medium in body, appropriate to a pale ale. I get more of the ripe melon, cantaloupe I think, and tropical mango. Grapefruit and tangerine citrus are here, too. The beer is super fruity and finishes balanced with hops but not as bitter as I expect in an American Pale Ale.

All in all not as malty or bitter as I expect in an American Pale Ale, but this was tasty and refreshing all the same. I would certainly buy it again.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
