Weisse Weisse Baby! Now isn’t that a cool name for a beer? Weisse Weisse Baby is made by the Westbrook Brewing Company of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and as you might have guessed, it’s their take on a traditional Berliner Weissbier. I’m not here to tell you about that beer though; instead, I have a bottle of one of the variants on this beer, Westbrook Lemon Coconut Weisse Weisse Baby.
Westbrook has a few other variants including Orange Blossom Weisse Weisse Baby and Whiskey Sour Weisse Weisse Baby. I have not tried either of those beers, nor have I tried the original base beer. I’ll keep my eyes peeled all the same; the whiskey sour version sounds particularly intriguing.

Westbrook is back with this not-so-traditional twist on our German-style Berliner Weisse. It’ll knock you back to ’90s – the 1590s that is!
We take our regular Weisse Weisse Baby base beer then infuse it with fresh lemons, toasted coconut, and whole vanilla beans.
Westbrook Lemon Coconut Weisse Weisse Baby has an alcohol content of 4% by volume with no IBU count given, though it is listed as less than 4 for the base beer. I paid $7.99 for my bottle stamped as packaged on 9/30/2015.
Westbrook Lemon Coconut Weisse Weisse Baby pours to a pale yellow color with a fast forming but equally rapidly fading rocky white head of foam and a quite citrusy lemon nose laced with hints of creamy vanilla and coconut. Taking a sip, the beer is tart and slightly crackery wheaty under all the tartness. The lemon comes through and into the finish that lactobacillic sourness is massively puckering, but that just serves to drown out the coconut and the vanilla.
This is a decent beer if you love sour Berliner Weiss, but I think all that sourness really drowns out the vanilla and coconut. As it fails to deliver on two of the three advertised ingredients I would sadly pass on buying it again.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
