Weldwerks Maibock
Review Date 5/9/2024 By John Staradumsky
Weldwerks does lagers? Apparently they do. I have only ever had ales from this revered Colorado brewer-especially IPAs. Recently, though, I tried my first Weldwerks lager-Weldwerks Maibock German-Style Lager. I love bocks of any kind, so this was welcome news to me.
Maibocks, otherwise known as spring bocks or pale bocks or Heller bocks, are as you might have guessed a spring seasonal style. They are pale in color in contrast to traditional bocks or double bocks, and in strength average around the range that the latter do.
I found no information of this beer on the rather minimalistic brewery website. The label simply calls it a German-Style Lager. It has an alcohol content of 7.2% by voluime and I paid $5.49 for my can from Half Time. That’s all I know. My can is stamped 03/21/24 which I assume is the canning date.
Weldwerks Maibock German-Style Lager pours to a pale golden color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of soft subtly toasty malt. Taking a sip, the beer is light and toasty nutty, clean malty, and ever so slightly candyish. Cooked corn and a dry toast emerge and in the finish, a kiss of grassy hops wrap things up nicely.
I would definitely drink this again.
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
