Juicy Bits India Pale Ale

Review Date 2/7/2021   By John Staradumsky

I’ve noticed something about small breweries these days. Many of them have shifted from offering details on their various beers on their websites to marketing beer for socially distanced on premises consumption, or more often than not, to go sales. That’s true of breweries near and far to me, another consequence of the COVID-19 19 pandemic.

Latest example: Weldwerks Juicy Bits India Pale Ale Brewed with Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado hops. This is my fourth ever beer from Weldwerks, and I’ve enjoyed each and every one immensely. Colorado’s Weldwerks does not sell its beer in Georgia, so in the past I’ve received samples from Colorado beer bon vivant Dale Roberts. This time around, I bought a can of Juicy Bits from Craftshack.con.

Heading on over to the brewery website, there is a nice photo of Juicy Bits, and a variant label for sale to go. No details on the beer, however, so here’s what I know: This is a hazy and juicy New England IPA of strength 6.7% by volume. I paid $4.79 for my can from Craftshack, not bad considering Total Wine sells the beer for $14.49 a 4-pack in pint cans (but not in Georgia). My can is stamped 10/27/20 on the bottom which I assume was the canning date. It went right into my beer fridge when I received it in early December, and I drank it on January 14th, 2021.

Weldwerks Juicy Bits India Pale Ale Brewed with Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado pours to a hazy orange juice color with a moderate head of creamy foam and a juicy citrus nose. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, light on the malt and crackery with big juicy citrus notes of orange, tangerine, and grapefruit. Minty herbal hops emerge at the last and the beer leaves a pleasant bitter buzz lingering on the tongue.

I really enjoyed my can of Weldwerks Juicy Bits India Pale Ale Brewed with Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado. An excellent rendition of the style, a style Weldwerks has truly mastered. I would buy it again if I could, and if Craftshack offers it again, I just might.

And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
