Galaxy Extra Extra Juicy Bits
Review Date 11/18/2024 By John Staradumsky
Have I ever had Weldwerks Extra Extra Juicy Bits before? I have not. I have had their Juicy Bits India Pale Ale brewed with Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado Hops before, though, and on numerous occasions. I drink that one whenever I can get it. Thus, when I saw Weldwerks Galaxy Extra Extra Juicy Bits Hazy Double India Pale Ale at Half Time, I bought a can. Of course I did!
It should be noted, however, that I didn’t order Galaxy Extra Extra Juicy Bits-I just ordered a can of Extra Extra Juicy Bits. What they sent me, though, was the Galaxy variant. It should be noted that Extra Extra Juicy Bits is a lot like Juicy Bits. Same hops, just more of them, a bigger beer, and double dry hopped, too. There are several variants that add a fourth hop variety, as you’re aware since what I am here to talk about includes Galaxy. Extra, Extra Galaxy according to the label.
Here's what Half Time said about the beer when I bought it, I assume quoted from Weldwerks:
WJB is bursting with so much fruit juice character that it makes you question whether or not actual fruit was added, but there is just enough bitterness to remind you that it’s still a IPA.
Galaxy Extra Extra Juicy Bits Hazy Double India Pale Ale has an alcohol content of 8.6% by volume, and I paid $7.99 for my cam from Half Time. Total Wine sells it for $14.99 a 4-pack of pint cans, though not here in Georgia. My can had no freshness dating.
Galaxy Extra Extra Juicy Bits Hazy Double India Pale Ale pours to a super hazy orange color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of vibrant orange and tangerine zest. Taking a sip the beer is medium in body, about what I expected. It’s super juicy though, like fresh squeezed orange and tangerine juice. Zesty citrus rind appears, perhaps orange and a little grapefruit. The beer finishes with a gentle minty note and balanced but not all that bitter.
I enjoyed this beer very much, it was very drinkable and very refreshing. I would certainly buy it again, given the chance.
Glad I tried it? T
Would I rebuy it??
