Von Trapp & Fox Farm Hopfen Weisse

Here’s another great Von Trapp collab beer I came across: Von Trapp & Fox Farm Hopfen Weisse Dry Hopped Wheat Ale. This is the third such collaboration beer from Von Trapp I have enjoyed, said beers being in their Stowe Style series. The first was their legendary Maple Rauch, this time in collaboration with their very own maple sugar house on the Von Trapp property.

Next up (and only a short time ago) was a wonderful Festbier brewed with Rhode Island’s historic Narragansett brewery. Which brings us right back where we started to Hopfen Weisse with Fox Farm and, I should add, Thrall Family Malt. This will be the first beer for me that has been touched by Fox Farm of Connecticut. I have heard such good things about Fox Farm and seen numerous check-ins of their beers on Untappd. I look forward to trying their beers one day. Today, I will enjoy this joint effort with Von Trapp.

Von Trapp says:

A new world take on a classic Bavarian-style weissbier. Brewed with pilsner malt from Thrall Family Malt, and dry-hopped with HBC 586 hops, this hop-forward hefeweizen is hazy with notes of citrus, spice, tropical fruit, and bread dough with a dry and effervescent finish.

I like the fact that Von Trapp and Fox Farm are using local quality malt from Thrall. Thrall operates a barley farm and malting house in Connecticut, and you can read more about them on their website.

Von Trapp & Fox Farm Hopfen Weisse has an alcohol content of 5.5% by volume with 25 IBUs. I paid $4,49 for my pint can from Half Time. Total Wine sells it for $12.99 a 4-pack. My can was stamped BEST BY 10/19/23. I squeaked it in and drank it on October 15th.

Von Trapp & Fox Farm Hopfen Weisse pours to a hazy pale color with a thick fluffy head and a soft fruity nose of citrus, earthy, and tropical hops. Taking a sip the beer is light to medium in body with grassy, citrusy hops, tropical fruit and tart wheat all leading into a balanced finish with a hint of hop bitterness.

Overall, this beer is crisp, fruity, light and refreshing. I is eminently quaffable, and a pleasant afternoon quencher. I recommend it, and would definitely buy it again.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
