One of the things I miss most about New England is, of course, New England beer. This September will make 20 years since I relocated here to Georgia, and I do love it here. It’s a great state full of great people. But of course, one will always miss things about the place where you were born and spent your formative years. So, I miss friends and family and food (clam cakes and lobster and New York System Wieners and Wright’s Farm chicken dinners and clam shacks and spinach pies and….). And I miss New England beer.

Luckily, the latter is sometimes available from Craftshack.com, and when it is, I am all over it. Such was the case with Two Roads Cloud Sourced Hazy Juicy IPA from the Two Roads brewery of Stratford, Connecticut. I drove by Stratford on 95 many a time in my New England days, but did not spend a lot of time in it. If I have a chance again, I will certainly stop there and visit Two Roads.

Here’s what Two Roads says about Cloud Sourced:

Cloud Sourced is a 6.5% hazy, juicy IPA that has an intense, citrus juiciness balanced with a soft malt core that, as the brand puts it “puts you on Cloud Nine!” Cloud Sourced is brewed with Cascade, Columbus, Centennial, Simcoe, Chinook, Citra hops.

I paid $3.49 for my can of Cloud Sourced Hazy Juicy IPA from Craftshack. It sells for $12.99 a six-pack at Total Wine, though they do not sell it here in Georgia. My can is stamped PKG 18SEP20. I received it on October 30^th, and it went right into my beer fridge. I drank it on January 10^th, 2021.

Two Roads Cloud Sourced Hazy Juicy IPA pours to a hazy orange yellow color with a thick fluffy white head and a juicy citrus fruit nose with hints of tropical to boot. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body with mega juicy notes, papaya, melon, and orange and grapefruit citrus. A hint of citrus rind is present, too. The beer finishes balanced, not really that bitter, but is super juicy and highly drinkable.

I peg this one about average as today’s hazy juicy IPAs go. I do like them with a little more bitterness and a little more body, though most lack the latter. I would definitely drink this one again.

And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
