Hey there Turtle Anarchy brewery, what the heck is up! Last time I checked you were pretty close to where I stay in Spring Hill, Tennessee when we visit family there. That location was in Franklin, where you started out back in 2012. Apparently, you grew too much, and had to move downtown to Nashville in 2015. That’s a good reason, anyway, and now you’re downtown in Nashville. I’ll come there and visit one day.
For now, though, I’m enjoying a can of your Another Way to Rye Rye IPA. I picked it up at Wild Hare Beer Company in Spring Hill, and I can’t help but recall the similarity to another “turtle” brewery. That would be Georgia’s own Terrapin brewery, who rose to fame on a rye pale ale called, well, Terrapin Rye Pale Ale. Turtles, apparently, prefer hoppy rye ales.
Turtle Anarchy says:
A bold rye, India pale ale with added spiciness from a healthy addition of rye malt, contributes a nice red hue in color. This IPA has a pronounced citrus hop aroma and flavor.
Turtle Anarchy Another Way to Rye has an alcohol content of 6% by volume with 60 IBUs. It was running $9.99 a six-pack in Spring Hill.
Turtle Anarchy Another Way to Rye pours to a dark ruddy color with a thick creamy head and a promising nose of spicy rye. Taking a sip, the beer is medium to full bodied with spicy grainy rye notes, a delightful rye breadiness, and a satisfying dry finish with grainy rye and bitter hops. The beer lingers long and dry with hop bitterness and grainy rye notes, and I find myself loving it more with every sip.
Well done! Oh and props are die for the brewery name, too. Turtle Anarchy is, just so cool.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
