Here’s another beer I picked up on one of my many recent trips to Nashville: Tennessee Brew Works Wildwood Flower, a honey blonde ale. I’ve enjoyed every beer I have tried from this Nashville brewer, and Wildwood Flower is no exception. This is a seasonal offering for fall (I believe), my sample is stamped as bottled on 09/20/17. I drank it in early May of 2018.
Tennessee Brew Works call this a “Belgian-style Honey Blonde”, They also say:
A sophisticated blonde ale derived from a classic Belgian Abbey yeast; accentuated by a floral, aromatic hop profile and commingled with a blend of the locally sourced Wildflower and Sourwood honeys.
Tennessee Brew Works Wildwood Flower has an alcohol content of 6.8% by volume with 22 IBUs. It was running $9.99 a six-pack at Wild Hare Beer Company when I picked up a single there.
Tennessee Brew Works Wildwood Flower pours to a hazy blonde color with a thick fluffy white head and a flowery, earthy hop aroma on top of soft bready malt. Taking a sip, the beer is smooth and malty up front with fresh biscuit malt notes, a rich warming herbal honey character, and a bitter hop finish.
Tennessee Brew Works Wildwood Flower is just a beautiful example of the style. A perfect beer for warm weather as it wanes in the fall or waxes in spring, the honey adds a warmth and depth of flavor that makes me want more. You will too.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
