Hey there Atlanta soccer fans! Have I got a beer for you! Three Taverns Rowdy and Proud IPA is specially brewed for you! Three Taverns calls it an “American IPA” and here is how they describe it on their website:
A collaboration beer with our friends in Resurgence and brewed for the fans of our hometown soccer team, Rowdy and Proud is loaded with Huell Melon, Mosaic, and Amarillo hops. Low in bitterness and bursting with flavors of melon, cantaloupe, honeydew, a hint of strawberry, with slight citrus undertones.. Drink the excitement!
Resurgence here does not mean New York’s Resurgence brewing (really would not make sense; New York has its own soccer team). Rather, it refers to an Atlanta United FC fan club whose motto is “We are the Rowdy and Proud” (hence the name of the beer.
I enjoyed a 23-ounce mug of Three Taverns Rowdy and Proud IPA on IPA Day at Taco Mac. It has an alcohol content of 6% by volume and I paid $6.80 for my draft. It runs $10.44 a six-pack at Target.
My mug of Three Taverns Rowdy and Proud IPA arrived a pale orange amber in color with a soft fruity melon nose. Taking a sip I get light malt, cantaloupe fruit, and a long dry grassy bitter finish. Rowdy and Proud straddles the line between pale ale and IPA for me, but I LOVE the Huell Melon hop fruit here. That said, the delicate melon makes this a beer best enjoyed as fresh as possible.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
