Zombie Ice Double Pale Ale
Review Date 5/31/2025 By John Staradumsky
I’m on the fence about double pale ales. Wouldn’t they be an IPA, or a double IPA? I mean, they should have more malt and hops than a standard pale ale, which is pretty much the idea of an India Pale Ale, no? Be that as it may, I am not going to belabor the point with the guy on the can of 3 Floyds Zombie Ice Double Pale Ale. He looks like he might eat you for breakfast (literally), so I’m going to let him call his beer whatever he wants to. Sure I am.
3 Floyds calls this beer an undead double pale ale, and they introduced it in 2023. From the can label:
Crafted with an unholy amount of citra hops, this double undead Pale Ale heralds the zombie evolution after the dust has settled from the apocalypse.
3 Floyds Zombie Ice Double Pale Ale has an alcohol content of 8.5% by volume and I paid $3.49 for my 12-ounce can from Half Time. The only other pricing I can find is $3.99 for a 19.2 ounce can at Total Wine in Norfolk, Virginia. My can is stamped PKGD ON 12/06/24 on the bottom.
3 Floyds Zombie Ice Double Pale Ale pours to a pale orange color with a thick head of fluffy white foam and a nose of bright grapefruit citrus zest. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, about right for a pale ale. It quickly bursts with tropical and citrus fruit, I get bright juicy mango and passion fruit, then the zesty grapefruit and orange citrus pith, peel and pulp. The beer finishes quite dry bitter and refreshing and warm with alcohol.
A citrusy tropical juicy party in my mouth, with a tasty bitter after party to boot.
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
