Munsterfest Oktoberfest Style Lager
Review Date 10/21/2022 By John Staradumsky
Fall. It’s my favorite time of year. The weather cools, football season kicks off (literally), and most important of all there is…beer. Pumpkin beers are a fall favorite, but to my taste the best fall beers of all are Oktoberfest beers, and every fall I seek out my old favorites (Paulaner Oktoberfest anyone?), but also seek to add a few new ones to the repertoire.
This year, one of the best new Otoberfest Märzens I have tried is Three Floyds Munsterfest Oktoberfest Style Lager. No, this is not a celebration of a bad Rob Zombie movie, instead the name is derived from Three Floyds’ hometown of Munster, Indiana.
The brewery says on their website and also on my bottle label:
A Märzen-style Fest Bier brewed with the finest German malted barley, aromatic Bavarian noble hops and traditional lager yeast. This rich malty lager is one of the few that remain true to the tradition of fest beers originally brewed to honor the marriage of Prince Ludwig in 1810. We hope you enjoy this fall offering. Es ist nicht normal.
SEASONAL AVAILABILITY: August – September
Three Floyds Munsterfest Oktoberfest Style Lager has an alcohol content of 6.2% by volume with 20 IBUs. I paid $2.99 for my single at half Time. Total Wine sells it for $10.49 a six-pack in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Three Floyds Munsterfest Oktoberfest Style Lager pours to a deep amber color with a light head formation and a rich toasty nutty nose. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, appropriate to the style, and explodes with toasty nutty mealonidin Munich malt goddess. It finishes balanced to gently bitter.
Friends, this one approaches the Germans in quality. Don’t miss it.
Glad I tried it? T
Would I rebuy it??
