Sweater Weather Winter Warmer
Review Date 12/5/2024 By John Staradumsky
Welcome, friends, to yet another holiday season! With this comes, of course, winter seasonal beer! Yes indeed, it’s the most wonderful time for a beer, and I’m here to tell you about a new one I picked up recently: Terrapin Sweater Weather Winter Warmer. I just love a good winter warmer, rich and malty and perfect to warm you up by the fireside on a cold winter (or even late fall) evening. Terrapin Sweater Weather is just such a beer.
Here's what Terrapin says about the beer on their website:
Sweater Weather Winter Warmer emanates a rich, inviting aroma reminiscent of freshly baked gingerbread and toasted caramel. With each sip, a symphony of flavors unfolds with notes of roasted chestnuts, cinnamon, and nutmeg while the malt sweetness envelops the palate like a soft woolen blanket. Embrace the seasonal coziness of this beer as you chase away the chill and warm your soul.
Terrapin is, of course, local for me and one of Georgia’s oldest breweries. They are also one of my favorites. I was happy to see a holiday brew from them, though they have had them in the past, including their Side Project 24: Turtleneck Gingerbread Winter Warmer. That beer was much like this one, though considerably stronger.
Terrapin Sweater Weather Winter Warmer has an alcohol content of 6.8% by volume, which is the exact transposition of Turtleneck’s 8.6%. Coincidence? I think not. The beer has 30 IBUs and I paid $10.99 for a six-pack, which is a great price these days. A half star bonus tacked on for that.
Terrapin Sweater Weather Winter Warmer pours to a deep mahogany color with a thick fluffy head and a rich nose of nutty malt and seasonal spice. Taking a sip, the beer is rich and malty up front and I immediately love that. The toasted nuts (chestnuts roasting on an open fire?) emerge again, and there is caramel and spicy ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon. Especially cinnamon. Finishes dry with spice and just a hint of alcohol warmth.
I definitely get the fresh baked gingerbread notes here, and who wouldn’t want that this time of year? I am so glad I got a full six-pack, and not a single. If you see this beer, don’t hesitate to pick some up.
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
