White Chocolate Moo-Hoo Stout

Review Date 2/7/2020    By John Staradumsky

Decisions, decisions. That’s always the tough part about going to Taco Mac. With 100 beers on tap, it’s not always to decide which ones I’ll enjoy on a given evening. Usually, I check the app or website for what’s pouring and have a good idea what I will order. On my latest visit, Terrapin White Chocolate Moo-Hoo Stout looked like a great candidate.

Now, this is the 2019 release I’m drinking, and yes it’s early February of 2020. This is a beer that will hold up well, though. My glass certainly did. Funny thing is, though, I didn’t order it. One of the bartenders came over with a glass. “Accidental pour,” she says, “Do you want it?” Well, well. That decision wasn’t so hard after all.

Terrapin says:

White Chocolate Moo Hoo is back for the third time in Terrapin history! Last year, we released it as our vote winner from our people’s choice election, and are bringing it back this year in it’s original line, the Reserve Series.

Terrapin White Chocolate Moo-Hoo Stout has an alcohol content of 8.5% by volume with 30 IBUs. I would have paid $10 for my glass, had I paid for it at all. It runs $10.99 for a 16.9-ounce bottle at Total Wine. The beer is made with cocoa nibs and white chocolate from Nashville’s Olive and Sinclair confectionary.

My glass of Terrapin White Chocolate Moo-Hoo Stout arrived jet-black in color with a moderate sized creamy tan head and sweet milk and white chocolate in the nose. Taking a sip, the beer is full and smooth in body with a rich milk chocolate palate, soft vanilla white chocolate notes, decadent milk chocolate and warming alcohol in the finish.

This beer is very, very good, indeed. I do think the price is on the high side, (half star off for that), but I will say that I would certainly buy it again. Try it, because if you do, you too will be shooting “Moo-Hoo! Woo-Hoo!”.

And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
