Double Candy India Pale Ale
Review Date 5/8/2024 By John Staradumsky
Sycamore Brewing Company of Charlotte, North Carolina is fast becoming one of my favorite breweries. I’ve been in love with them ever since I stumbled on their Mountain Candy India Pale Ale, which is probably my very favorite beer that they brew. So, ya know, when I heard they had a bigger and colder version of this beer, I just had to find it. Finally, I did, at Canton Wine and Spirits Warehouse (yes, they have beer there, too).
Anyway, I grabbed a 4-pack of Sycamore Double Candy Double India Pale Ale, along with some other beers, and brought them home. I did share half of them with my daughter and her boyfriend, because it was her birthday, you see. Of my share, Double Candy was one of the first I popped open. I made a wise selection.
From the brewery website:
Two Mountain Candy cans snuck off to a dark corner of the brewhouse and... ya know. One thing led to another, and a few months later, a new beer was born! All the hoppy magic of Mountain Candy, doubled!
Sycamore Double Candy Double India Pale Ale has an alcohol content of 9% by volume and I paid $17.99 for 4 pint cans. My can were stamped CANNED 12/27/23 and BRV and Double Candy? on the bottom. Or could that be BRU? As in Bruguru? As in me!
Sycamore Double Candy Double India Pale Ale pours to a bright golden color with a thick fluffy white head and a bright nose of melon and citrus. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, about what I expect for the style. I get sweet honeydew melon, tangerine citrus, passion fruit, peach and lifesavers candy. The beer finishes sweet but with warming alcohol.
I love it. BRU and Double Candy. I’m going to go crave it on a tree!
Glad I tried it? T
Would I rebuy it??
