Big Trip Double IPA

I was on the hunt for Samuel Adams Cherry Bomb, truth be told, when I took a ride to my local Ingles Supermarket. It wasn’t a big trip to get there, it’s only a few miles away, but when I got there, I found a big trip anyway-Sweetwater Big Trip Double IPA to be precise. Cherry Bomb comes in 19.2-ounce stovepipe cans, and Big Trip is sold that way too; I found them side by side.

Sweetwater says:

Sip, trip and slip away with this concentrated hit of citrus deliciousness. This high-octane, juicy double IPA packs a potent ABV with easy drinkin’ tropical flavor and aroma, sending your taste buds on a wild, wonderful ride.

They list the following ingredients on their website:

Malt:2-row, pilsner, wheat

Hops: Cita, El Dorado, Idaho 7, Mosaic, Sultana

Sweetwater Big Trip Double IPA has an alcohol content of 9% by volume with 30 IBUs. I paid $2.57 for my can at Ingles, and that is a bargain indeed. My can has no freshness dating.

Sweetwater Big Trip Double IPA pours to a brilliant golden color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of light citrus and tropical fruit. Taking a sip, the beer is light to medium in body, moreso on the light side. It is delicate indeed with notes of mango, peach and tangerine. Finishes dry with a bitter hop bite and warming alcohol.

At first, I thought the beer was a little too light bodied, but the more I sipped the more I appreciated the delicate nature, soft fruitiness, and crisp dry character. Big Trip is a winner in my book, and you just cannot argue with the bargain basement price.

 Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
