Yule Shoot Your Ale Out Christmas Ale
Review Date 12/18/2024 By John Staradumsky
Well didn’t this just work out perfectly! I had just enjoyed my annual viewing of A Christmas Story a few days earlier with the wife. If you haven’t seen it, you should. It’s a classic about a 9 year old boy who desperately wants a BB gun for Christmas, but everyone keeps telling him, “You’ll shoot your eye out!.” It was a Sunday afternoon, and I had stopped at Taco Mac to pick up some wings to enjoy while watching the Patriots game with my sons.
Of course, I had a beer while waiting. Actually, since Number One Son was working late, I had two. There was time, after all. The one I am here to speak of, however, is apropos to my opening paragraph: Yule Shoot Your Ale Out Christmas Ale by the Stillfire Brewing Company of Suwanee, Georgia.
This is, of course, not the first beer themed after A Christmas Story. Perhaps most famous is Yule Shout Your Eye Out by Karbach brewing of Texas. Still, it is a very tasty beer indeed and I am so glad Taco mac had it on tap.
Here’s what Stillfire says:
An english style winter warmer with hints of chocolate, nutmeg and cinnamon. It’s like a beer-flavored cinnamon roll. Served in a crushed peppermint rimmed glass, this is Christmas in a glass!
Stillfire Yule Shoot Your Ale Out has an alcohol content of 7.1% by volume with 45 IBUs. I paid $8 for an 11-ounce glass at Taco Mac, which was not rimmed with peppermint. It was still delicious.
My glass of Stillfire Yule Shoot Your Ale Out Christmas Ale arrived a deep black color with a thin wispy head formation and spice and cookie malt in the nose. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, pops with chocolate, and bursts with cinnamon. It’s dry with nutmeg and light roast in the finish.
Very reminiscent of those dark cinnamon folds between the dough in a cinnamon roll for me, I really enjoyed it and will be looking for more in bottles.
Glad I tried it? T
Would I rebuy it??
