Here’s a tasty little beer that’s a collaboration brew between Savannah’s Southbound Brewery and Atlanta’s Second Self brewery: Southbound/Second Self White Gold IPA. This beer was featured as one of the beers of the month at Taco Mac, where both breweries were honored with that same distinction.
Southbound/Second Self White Gold IPA is, I believe, draft only. I’ve not seen it canned anyway. It has an alcohol content of 5.5% by volume with 65 IBUs and I paid $6 for a mug on August 18th and got a free Orpheus Brewing glass with the purchase (that brewery also featured this month)..
My thoughts on Southbound/Second Self White Gold IPA, then, a collaboration brew. Bursting with bitter citric orange in the nose, medium caramel malt with lighter wheat notes, bitter orange rind, citric grapefruit hops, long dry intensely bitter herbal finish.
A very refreshing brew indeed, and one I would love to see return next summer.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
