New brewery alert! I just had my first beer from the Slow Pour Brewing Company of Lawrenceville, Georgia: Cotillion Blonde Ale. According to an article from the Gwinnet Citizen, Slow Pour opened September of 2017. Here it is June of 2018 and I am enjoying my first beer from them. On draft at Taco Mac, of course.
Slow Pour states this as their mission:
To encourage and build community through a shared passion for a slower and more intentional pace of life.
To cultivate friendships, and to craft fine beer with a southern flare.
All because we are well aware of this fact... NOTHING GOOD HAPPENS IN A HURRY!
And they say about Cotillion Blonde:
Southern charm with a smooth finish ~ embodied in this refreshing blonde.
What is a cotillion? Wikipedia says:
The cotillion (also cotillon or "French country dance") is a social dance, popular in 18th-century Europe and America
Slow Pour Cotillion Blonde Ale has an alcohol content of 5.2% by volume and I paid $6.48 for a 23-ounce mug at Taco Mac.
My mug of Slow Pour Cotillion Blonde Ale arrived a pale blonde color with a minimal head of foam and faint malt in the nose. Taking a sip, I got delicate bready malt in the palate and a hint of perfumery and lightly bitter hops in the finish. An inoffensive example of an inoffensive style, I’d like more malt and hops here for sure, but I would buy it again to support this new small brewer, and because it was a fair quaffing brew.
Interestingly enough, my daughter was working a Taco Mac this night, and came over to ask my advice-on beer of course. A party was asking for Fat Tire Amber on tap, and they were out, so what might I suggest as an alternative? I suggested this very beer, Slow Pour Cotillion as a substitute, being somewhat similar and local to boot. It was a hit, and the happy patrons offered to buy me a beer in thanks, though I declined. It was such a small thing as to not require such a display of gratitude.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
