Slavutych Brewery, Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine.
This beer comes in a very attractive 1/2
liter brown bottle and sports a label mostly in Cyrillic. How the heck BATF
approved that I don't know. Dark ruby-brown color, generous head formation,
sweet malty nose. Palate has good
notes of chocolate and light hints of prune, not exceptionally heavy bodied but
drinkable, subtle but distracting sourness in the finish. Definitely not a world
classic but one of the better beers I've tasted to come out of the former Soviet
Union.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
