Sierra Nevada 2025 Oktoberfest Collaboration with Störtebeker Brewery

It’s that time of year again! OK, I know some people think August is a little early for Oktoberfest beer drinking, but…I say it’s not! To be fair, I do wait for September (when the bulk of Oktoberfest actually occurs) and October to drink most of these beers, especially when I do an entire liter Maas of the original Munich-brewed ones. That said, I do like to pop a bottle shortly after picking them up when they are wonderfully fresh.

Such is the case today with Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest 2025 with Störtebeker Brauspezialitäten. I was very excited to see this collab because Störtebeker has been on my radar for a while now, though we do not get their beers here in the USA-yet. As soon as I see them, I will pounce on them, of course, but for now this will be close enough.

Sierra Nevada energized their annual Oktoberfest release in 2015. Though they had released beers in the style prior to that, this was the year they began the collaborations. The 2025 release is the 8th such effort in conjunction with a German brewer. In 2020, Covid put the kibosh on this and they did not resume the practice until 2023.

Sierra Nevada says:

Our authentic Oktoberfest is a collaboration with Störtebeker, an award-winning German brewer internationally recognized for quality and innovation.

This modern Festbier leans into a rich, smooth malt backbone with notes of fresh-baked bread and honey. Traditional German hops provide balanced bitterness and herbal-spicy aroma, rounding out the crisp, clean finish. Prost!

Ingredients from the website:

Malts Bonlander, Caramel Munich, Pale, Pilsner

Hops Opal, Perle, Spalter Select, Tradition

Yeast Lager

Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest 2025 with Störtebeker Brauspezialitäten has an alcohol content of 6% by volume with 30 IBUs. I paid $10.99 for a six-pack of 12-ounce cans which is a good deal for 2025. This is actually less than last year. My cans are stamped PKGD 071525 and I drank the first can on August 10th, so less than a month old.

Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest 2025 with Störtebeker Brauspezialitäten pours to a brilliant golden color with a nose of fresh baked bread and toasted malts. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, popping with more of the fresh bready malts, toasted nuts, and the lightest hint of caramel. There’s an assertive hop bitterness that lingers long in the finish and leaves the beer dry and quaffable.

This is just a wonderful Festbier, and I am looking forward to quaffing a Maas next month and, if I’m really lucky, fresh draft at Taco Mac.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
