Cosmic Little Thing Hazy Double IPA
Review Date 8/12/2024 By John Staradumsky
So, I had this Cosmic Little Thing going on. It was in fact a can of the beer by the same name from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, and it got me wondering: shouldn’t this really be called Cosmic Big Thing? I mean, it’s a strong Hazy Double IPA after all. And, it comes in big 19.2 ounce cans. See what I mean?
We’ll give Sierra Nevada a chance to talk about it, from the brewery website:
Ride an interstellar wave of tropical flavor in this Cosmic Little Thing, a hazy nebula glowing with Comet, Strata, and Helios hops for notes of citrus, berries, and lychee.
Cosmic Little Thing is the big brother to Sierra Nevada’s Hazy Little Thing. There’s a Wild Little Thing in the series, too, and a few others I have yet to try. I’m working on that, have no fear.
Sierra Nevada Cosmic Little Thing has an alcohol content of 8% by volume with 35 IBUs. I paid $2.99 for my 19.2-ounce can at Total Wine, and they sell it for $11.99 the six-pack of 12-ounce cans. Ounce for ounce, the big can is actually cheaper than the six-pack. My can is stamped on the bottom PKGD 031424. My birthday! Thank you, Sierra Nevada! I am assuming this was canned at their Asheville, North Carolina facility.
Sierra Nevada Cosmic Little Thing pours to a hazy orange color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of soft citrus and tropical fruit. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body and I would like a little more of that. It’s immediately fruity though with stone fruit peach and tropical mango. Ripe berries and a hint of citrus lead into the balancing to more than that bitter finish.
I enjoyed this one very much and would certainly drink it again.
Glad I tried it? T
Would I rebuy it??
