Round Trip Rye Dubbel

Review Date 3/16/2026 By John Staradumsky
Round Trip Rye Dubbel! That’s what I was drinking. It was my birthday, and Round Trip was the first stop on our pub crawl. There are a few qualifications that I should add. I was not at the main location I had visited on my birthday two years prior; instead I was at the newer East Cobb taproom. My idea was to revisit the Atlanta location, but when I visited their website I learned of the new location only a few miles form my son’s house, and since I was going with my sons, East Cobb location it was!
This was to be the second stop on our whirlwind tour, but our attempted first one, Stillfire brewing’s new location in nearby Smyrna, failed. They had just opened the day before and it was impossible to get near the place. So, on to Round Trip! I am a huge fan of this brewery and their German-styled brews, such as Third Orbit Barrel-Aged Smoked Doppelbock which I first enjoyed at the brewery two years prior.
Round Trip Rye Dubbel is, clearly, not a german style beer, but instead a barrel aged Belgian one. The brewery describes the beer as follows:
Belgian Dubbel aged in Rye Barrels
The malt profile of a Belgian style dubbel is similar to a doppelbock, and these are two styles of which I am very fond. Round Trip Rye Dubbel has an alcohol content of 9.5% by volume, a bit high for a dubbel. The beer has 18 IBUs and I paid $10 for a 330ML glass, a bit high I think, but hey, everything has gone up these days.
My glass of Round Trip Rye Dubbel arrived a murky brown color with a light creamy tan head and a nose of robust dark fruit raisin and boozy bourbon. Taking a sip the beer is medium to full in body with big dark fruity notes of raisin and prune. It’s spicy with rye and boozy bourbon and those notes intensify into the warming alcohol finish.
This beer was delightful, it really popped with boozy bourbon and was a perfect sipping brew to start our festivities. I would, of course, love to drink it again.
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
