Round Trip Oktoberfest
Review Date 10/15/2024 By John Staradumsky
Last spring, I made a trip to Atlanta just to visit Round Trip Brewing. Round Trip is a recent arrival to the Atlanta beer scene, specializing in German-style beers, which of course immediately attracted my attention. So, when I visited Total Wine a few weeks ago looking for my beloved Tucker Tucktoberfest, I was delighted to see they had Round Trip Oktoberfest on the shelves.
Round Trip says:
Oktoberfest is an artisinal Märzen with moderately toasted bread flavors and a pleasant sweetness well-suited for gathering the whole gang under the tent.
I think they underestimate the power of their own beer here, as Round Trip Oktoberfest is not moderate at all when it comes to the toasty nutty rich flavors associated with a classic German Märzen. I loved it from the first sip, and it gives Tucktoberfest a run for its money, for sure. I can think of no finer praise for a local Oktoberfest than that.
Round Trip Oktoberfest has an alcohol content of 5.5% by volume with 24 IBUs and I paid $12.99 for my six-pack. The can had no freshness dating.
Round Trip Oktoberfest pours to a light mahogany with a thick creamy head and a rich toasty nutty malt nose. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body and bursting with toasty nutty melanoidin goodness. Decocted Munich malts add these flavors, and a hint of carmel as well. The beer is rich and chewy, truly a glass of liquid bread. A gently balancing hop bitterness rounds the beer out nicely at the last.
I could drink this beer all evening, and once you try a glass, I’m sure you will be hooked too.
Glad I tried it? T
Would I rebuy it??
