American Lagers take a lot of heat for their relative lack of flavor, at least as compared to craft brews, but they are popular and if taken for what they are, can be very refreshing. A local restaurant chain was offering a pint of Rolling Rock and a pound of Buffalo wings for $3, so I went for it. Not much malt or hops here. Corn is very evident, though not the DMS cooked-corn flavors sometimes present in beer. Acetaldehyde is also noticeable in the finish. This beer is intended to be light-bodied for drinking in large quantities, and as designed it succeeds. I was thirsty when I drank it, it quenched that thirst, and I enjoyed it.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
