River Remedy French Toasted Breakfast Porter

Here’s my second beer from the River Remedy brewery of Rome, Georgia: French Toasted Breakfast Porter. I bought a crowler each of this and their Romega IPA, the latter of which I liked very much indeed. Here’s what River Remedy says about this limited-edition beer:

Hold on to your toast! French Toasted is an indulgent breakfast porter loaded with caramelized sugar, maple‑kissed French‑toast richness, and a touch of sweet cinnamon. Brewed as a Mug Club collab, it’s better than bad, it's good!

And it was good friends; I am glad I picked it up while I was there. The beer has an alcohol content of 8.6% by volume with 30 IBUs and I paid $16 for a 32-ounce crowler. For on premises consumption, it was sold in a 10-ounce glass for $5 or a 5-ounce sampler for $3.50.

French Toasted Breakfast Porter pours to a light brown and quite opaque color with a medium tan head and a nose of spicy cinnamon and sweet maple. I was concerned when I held the beer to the light at how much was getting through, and a sip reveals a beer thinner than it should be. I do get loads of cinnamon, and I love that, and sweet maple syrup, too. Is it a bit eggy like French Toast? Perhaps the mind’s palate at work there. It is chocolaty and lightly roasty and finishes balanced with roast and spice.

More body and this could be something special, and an addition of coffee would not hurt either. Still, it is a tasty brew as it is, and I would certainly drink it again.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
