Pursuit of Freedom Apple Tart Session
Sour Ale
Review Date 2/27/2025 By John Staradumsky
Do you like cider? I like cider. Do you like apple pie? I like apple pie. If you are like me, you will just love Pursuit of Freedom Apple Tart from Chicago’s Revolution Brewing. It’s a little bit of both of these things, and that makes it a whole lot of delicious. Revolution calls this a “Session Sour Ale”, and they further add it is brewed with Apple, Cinnamon Flavor, & Vanilla Flavor. The brewery has a full line of sours under the Pursuit of Freedom banner, but it was the apple tart that immediately caught my attention.
Revolution says:
The enticing combination of apple, vanilla, and cinnamon offers beguiling aromas and captivating flavors in the latest entry in our Pursuit of Freedom series of Session Sours with real fruit.
Revolution Pursuit of Freedom Apple Tart has an alcohol content of 4.5% by volume and I paid $4.49 for my pint can from Half Time Beverage. Total wine sells it for $15.49 a 4-pack in their Avon, Indiana store. That seems a bit high to me for a 4.5% sour, but hey, everything is getting expensive these days. My can was stamped FILLED 08/30/24.
Revolution Pursuit of Freedom Apple Tart pours to a pale golden color with a thick fluffy white head and a tart nose of apple cider. Taking a sip, the beer is light to medium in body. It’s a little cidery with subtle vanilla and a little more cinnamon, then bursts with fresh apple fruit. It is gently sour in the finish and is very refreshing. Combined with the malt for the crust, this is definitely a slice of apple pie in a glass, but still finishes dry.
I enjoyed this, and would certainly buy it again.
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
