Reformation Oktoberfest

Reformation Oktoberfest! I was all over that. It was September, you see, and I was shopping for Oktoberfest and pumpkin beers, fall seasonals as they are. And there it was, a display of Oktoberfest beers, and amongst them, Reformation Oktoberfest from my local brewery. There are two Reformation locations very close to me, one here in Canton, and another in Woodstock. I am not sure which one brewed up this beer (and even if it was one of them; they have a third location in Smyrna).

Did it matter? It didn’t; a six-pack went into my cart. It was very fresh, too, stamped as CANNED ON 08/11/21, and I think I bought it perhaps three weeks after that.

Reformation says:

Malty & complex with notes of toffee and coffee malt. Pair this Oktoberfest with your favorite Fall moments, including backyard cookouts & salty pretzels.

This was interesting because I don’t think I’ve ever found notes of coffee in a Marzen lager. Toffee? Sure! Toasted nuts? Earthy hops? Bread crust? For sure! Coffee? Not so much.

Reformation Oktoberfest has an alcohol content of 5.5% by volume and I paid $10.44 for my six-pack at Target. I love that Target carries local (and a fair amount of non-local) craft beer.

Reformation Oktoberfest pours to a bright orange color with a thick creamy head and a robust caramel malty nose. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body with a firm caramel maltiness and impressive toasty nutty malt notes. Finishes slight malty-sweet to balanced.

This is a very nice Oktoberfest, and one of the best domestic versions I’ve tried this year, which is saying something. I never got the coffee (shut up about the coffee already Bruguru!), but what I did get here was an authentic German Marzen style lager. Why not get some yourself, so you can get that too?

 Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
