Carrot Cake Ale

Review Date 4/18/2020  By John Staradumsky

Reformation Carrot Cake? Well there’s a beer I was all over faster than you can say buncha munchy crunchy carrots! I must confess, I stole that “buncha munchy crunchy carrots” from Tweak Bunny, a character on the Octonauts TV series. My grandkids love this show, and that phrase popped into my head when I took a whiff of Reformation Carrot Cake Ale freshly poured from my crowler.

I can’t tell you much about the beer itself. I have no idea what the ABV is. It wasn’t listed on Untappd; I had to create a new listing for it. I ordered it online from Reformation in Woodstock (they have 3 locations now, the other two in Canton where I live and Smyrna where I once lived). I got this with another crowler and a few six-packs by curbside pickup. I paid $11 for my crowler. That’s all I know.

Reformation Carrot Cake pours to a bright orange color with a thick creamy head and a vibrant nose just like sniffing a fresh bunch of carrots! Taking a sip, the beer is medium bodied with more fresh crunchy carrot notes, gentle nutty tones, and vanilla frosting at the last in the subtly spicy finish.

I love it! More fresh carroty flavor than carrot cake, but in my palate’s eye I can see it as a glass of carrot cake too!

And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
