Here’s a beer I don’t know a lot about: Red Brick Airbrush Daydream, a brew that Atlanta-based Red Brick calls a “Myrtle Beach Style IPA”. I first saw it on the draft list of my local Taco Mac, but the keg had kicked before I got there. I then saw it available at Stout’s Growlers and headed there for a crowler.
This is a hazy IPA ala “New England IPA”, but it’s also a bit sour. I’ve actually seen a few more beers like this since I drank my Red Brick Airbrush Daydream, but they weren’t called Myrtle Beach Style IPA.
Red Brick only says this in an announcement about a mid-March release party:
Reminisce on spring breaks past with us at our Airbrush Daydream can release! This “Myrtle Beach Style” tart IPA is brewed with Citra, Mosaic, and Topaz hops. $15 per 4 pack, limit 2pp.
Airbrush Daydream t-shirts will be available for purchase, $25 each.
Untappd says the beer has an alcohol content of 6.5% by volume. I paid $10.25 for my crowler at Stout’s.
Red Brick Airbrush Daydream pours to a hazy yellow color with a very light head and a zesty citrus peel nose. Taking a sip, the beer is light malty, citric and sour. Some minty hops poke through at the last, and the beer finishes sour and refreshing.
Tasty! I’d drink it on Myrtle Beach for sure, but then again, I wouldn’t mind drinking it in New England either. For now, though, I think I’ll only be drinking it in Georgia.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
