Prison City Oktoberfest Lager
Review Date 10/27/2023 By John Staradumsky
Here’s a new beer for me from Prison City Brewing of Auburn, New York: Prison City Oktoberfest Lager. I’ve had a few beers from this brewery already, and they impressed me, and as it is Oktoberfest season, this one went straight into my cart. I’m glad I did that because it turned out to be a tasty treat indeed.
A little about the beer from the brewery website:
OKTOBERFEST
Märzen
Glücklicher Herbst!
While we never actively root for the end of Summer, Fall does offer many sweet rewards… like more German style lager biers!
This beer is malty and crisp, loaded with sweet, toasty bread notes and a clean finish. And at 5.7% ABV you can knock several back with out feeling weighed down.
I paid $3.99 for my can of Prison City Oktoberfest Lager from Half Time. No other pricing is available to me currently. My can has no freshness dating.
Prison City Oktoberfest Lager pours to a bright orange color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of luscious toasty nutty malt. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, apropos to the style. It’s toasty nutty with hints of caramel, but not as toasty nutty as the German versions (but then how many are?), or even some American decocted versions. Finishes gently balanced with a subtle kiss of grassy hops. I would buy it again.
Glad I tried it? T
Would I rebuy it??
