The Post Road Brewing Company of
Framingham Massachusetts has been contract brewing distinctive ales for
some years. Though contract brewing has been the center of much
controversial
discussion among beer lovers, it would be hard to criticize beers as good
as the ones Post Road sells. Perhaps being contracted to a brewery as
well-respected as the Catamount Brewing Company
partially explains this. In any event, the growing number of micros who
contract out part of their production only blurs the lines a bit
further between micro and contract beers.
Stopped at Matt Molloy's Pub in Warwick, RI after work tonight for an excellent Beef, Mushroom, and Guinness Pie. The meat is marinated in Guinness and the gravy is made with it. Came topped with a huge puff pastry crust, and I enjoyed a pint of Guinness before it, a Bass Ale with it, and a Post Road Snowshoe after it. The only thing that would have made it better would have been a pint of Bank Street Ale, but they were out of it.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
