Other Half Brewing of Brooklyn, New York sure has a lot of IPAs, I can tell you that. I’ve opined this previously here on Guruofbrew.com, and here I am to say it again. One of their most sought after, though, at least by me, has been Broccoli Double Dry Hopped Imperial India Pale Ale. I got a can recently and am here to tell you how that went.

Broccoli is a flagship beer of the line by Other Half. The brewery says:

A hazy Imperial IPA brewed with a hand-selected blend of hops giving notes of pineapple, citrus, mango, and white grape. Does not include Broccoli.

Does not include broccoli? I feel cheated! There are variants produced by Other Half, including Cheddar Broccoli, Cream of Broccoli, Chicken and Broccoli, Triple Broccoli, and Space Broccoli. They list the following hops on the label:

Mosaic, Mosaic Cryo, Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe, Simcoe Cryo, Strata

Other Half Broccoli has an alcohol content of 7.9% by volume and I paid $7.99 for a half pint can from Half Time. Total Wine sells it for $23.99 a 4-pack at their Virginia Beach, Virginia store. That’s too high, I think, and not much cheaper can than what I paid Half Time. My can was stamped with a canning date of 07/05/24

Other Half Broccoli Double Dry Hopped Imperial India Pale Ale pours to a hazy orange color with a thick head of rocky foam and a nose of explosive citrus juice. Taking a sip I get a medium body, pasty with oats, before the palate explodes with the vibrant orange and tangerine juice notes the nose promised. There are as promised tropical notes of pimeapple and mango, and the beer finishes balanced but not bitter, and I might like more of that.

A very tasty beer indeed, I’ll give it 4 ½ stars less half a star for the very high price. All the same, I would definitely buy it again.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
