MI,MI,MI Triple New England IPA
Review Date 5/12/2024 By John Staradumsky
MI, MI, MI…..hey there beer enthusiasts! No, I’m not warming up to sing to you (I imagine you wouldn’t stick around long if I did), I’m here to tell you about a beer: Old Nation MI, MI, MI Triple New England IPA. In case you didn’t know. The MI,MI,MI here stands for Michigan, Michigan, Michigan-the home state of Old Nation Brewing.
This is only the 2nd beer I have tasted from Old Nation. The first was their very popular M-43 N.E. India Pale Ale. This I drank in 2019, but I was put off by the overpricing. I will say that their beers have become more reasonable these days, so I would like to drink more of them. M-43 is an IPA of strength 6.8% by volume and was running $17.99 for a 4-pack of pint cans five years ago. Overpriced, to be sure. Today, though, MI, MI, MI, a stronger beer at 10.08%, runs a buck and a half cheaper at Total Wine, again for a 4-pack.
Old Nation says:
Extraordinarily drinkable, MI,MI,MI is loaded with sweet pineapple and mango aromas which carry throughout. Peach, orange Mimosa, and a piney hop bitterness with fresh bread notes on the solid malt backbone. This is definitely one to drink carefully and responsibly!
I bought a can of Old Nation MI, MI, MI Triple New England IPA at the Woodstock Beer Market for $4.99. It was stamped PKGD ON 02/16/24 and I drank it on April 18th.
Old Nation MI, MI, MI Triple New England IPA pours to a hazy orange amber color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of sharp grapefruit pith and peel. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, about average as these beers go. It’s quite juicy with tropical mango and pineapple and citrusy tangerine, sweet mandarin orange and pink grapefruit. A slightly sweet finish is balanced with warming alcohol more than hops, though there is a touch of hop bitterness.
All in all a tasty brew that I enjoyed.
Glad I tried it? T
Would I rebuy it??
