Hey there, beer fans! What have we here? Another tasty beer from Colorado’s Odd13 brewery: Enigma DDH Intergalactic Juice Hunter. This is another hazy IPA from Odd13, the brewery that gives you tasty beer and flashy comic book characters all in one convenient package. Odd13 does not sell its beer in Georgia, but thanks to real-life superhero Dale Roberts I got some all the same.
Odd13 says on the label:
Intergalactic Juice Hunter is a double IPA designed to highlight Galaxy and other juicy hops. This variant has Enigma hops from NZ added to the dry hop for dank berry flavors.
And on the website:
Double IPA with Galaxy, Amarillo, and Simcoe. Contains lactose. Double dry hopped with Enimga.
If you didn’t know, the DDH stands for double dry hopped. Odd13 Enigma DDH Intergalactic Juice Hunter has an alcohol content of 8% by volume. My sample was canned on 7/31/18 and I drank it on November 18th.
Odd13 Enigma DDH Intergalactic Juice Hunter pours to a hazy yellow orange color with a thick head of loosely packed bubbles and a big citrus juicy nose. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, smooth and drinkable and quite juicy with mostly orange but some grapefruit peel and pith, too. It finishes bitter and minty, like orange zest with mint.
Very tasty indeed, and I did get some interesting dark berry (perhaps blueberry?) notes, though I’m not sure I would have picked them out without the hint. The slightly dark herbal notes were interesting. This is an interesting beer that does display well the classic citric American hops with the added dark fruity Enigmas.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
