My aged bottle of Pranqster pours to a cloudy yellow color with a light head
of cauliflower foam and a thick, spicy-yeasty nose. The palate is smooth
with a cracker-like malt body and a rich, fruity pineapple finish. There's a
good amount of sweetness in the finish too, and some spices, perhaps
coriander and a very subtle touch of anisette. Alcohol content is 6.9% by
volume, providing a touch of warmth. Pranqster is bottle conditioned and my
bottle had a big splotch of yeast at the bottom, which I roused and poured
into the glass. Can't waste those B vitamins. Overall, a very nice Belgian
Golden style Ale.
Pranqster's label features a cartoon caricature of a group of jolly fellows
enjoying a beer. If you look to right hand center, you'll see one has a
photo head. Extra credit if you guessed that's North Coast brewer Mark
Ruedrich.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
