Dragon's Milk Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout with Cherry Chocolate
Review Date 6/16/2018 By John Staradumsky
New Holland has a new release in their Dragon’s Milk series: New Holland Dragon’s Milk Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout with Cherry Chocolate. Yum! Better yet, Taco Mac had this on tap, so of course I ordered a glass. Truth be told, I’m not sure that behemoth’s like this are any better on tap than they are in the bottle, but they were pouring it, so I was drinking it.
This is the third variant I have had on New Holland Dragon’s Milk. The other two were New Holland Dragon’s Milk Reserve Coconut Rum Barrel Stout and New Holland Dragon’s Milk Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout with Coffee and Chocolate. Oddly enough, I’ve never had the original, though I do have a bottle of it in my garage fridge that has been aging a few years.
New Holland says about this limited-edition beer:
Dragon's Milk Reserve Cherry Chocolate brings two classic flavors together, chocolate notes paired perfectly with the tartness of cherry will delight your senses.
New Holland Dragon’s Milk Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout with Cherry Chocolate has an alcohol content of 11% by volume (it’s a sipper folks!) I thought it was a bargain at $5.00 for an 11-ounce glass. That’s not much more than the $17.99 a 4-pack it runs at Total Wine.
My glass of New Holland Dragons Milk Reserve Cherry Chocolate arrived jet-black in color with a vibrant nose that just explodes with chocolate and bright fruity cherry, the mouthfeel is thick and the beer oozes over the tongue like a barrel of light sweet crude. As the palate progresses, milk chocolate exudes, bright cherry pops, and the beer finishes slightly boozy with a decided alcohol warmth. $5 is a steal for a glass of this beauty even if the barrel aging is less apparent than with other editions.
Glad I tried it? T
Would I rebuy it??
