Wolf Snacks Double IPA

Review Date 7/3/2021   By John Staradumsky

Friends, I give you, Monday Night Wolf Snacks Double India Pale Ale. This begs the question, what does a wolf snack on? Why anything he likes, of course. And of course, I myself have been know to wolf snacks down while enjoying a tasty brew. I did just that with my Wolf Snacks, enjoying a pile of delicious Taco Mac Cajun Voodoo Magic wings with the beer. Spicy food and hoppy IPAs are a match made in heaven, double IPAs and wings doubly so.

One thing is for sure, Monday Night does not skimp on the hops in Wolf Snacks Double India Pale Ale. The beer is brewed with Styrian Wolf, Mosaic, Simcoe, Idaho 7, El Dorado, Citra Cryo, and Simcoe Cryo varieties. Styrian Wolf hops are, as far as I know, new to me. They are said to add tropical notes (just what we needed, another tropical fruity hop). The others are old friends.

Monday Night says:

Inside you there are two wolves—one good, one bad—and they're both hungry. Feed them Wolf Snacks, a Double IPA hopped with Styrian Wolf, Mosaic, Simcoe, Idaho 7, El Dorado, Citra Cryo, and Simcoe Cryo. This DIPA is untamed and fierce with intense notes of tropical fruit and resiny pine.

Monday Night Wolf Snacks Double India Pale Ale has an alcohol content of 9% by volume with 70 IBUs. I paid $7.50 for an 11-ounce draft at Taco Mac, and Total Wine sells it for $16.99 a 4-pack of pint cans.

My glass of Monday Night Wolf Snacks Double India Pale Ale arrived a dark orange amber color with a nose that was very tropical with mango and pineapple.  Taking a sip, it is medium to full in body, spicy peppery, tropical fruity, resiny piney. It is warming with alcohol in the finish but not all that bitter, points off for that, as well as the high price. It is tasty though and up to the job of washing down a pile of Cajun Voodoo Magic wings.

Even with the high price, I would buy it again, though maybe not as much as if it were a bit more reasonable.

And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
