The term Whirling Dervish is derived from their habit to dance with pronounced twirling motions.

So then, you might ask, is Monday Night Whirling Dervish Coffee Stout named for those famed whirling dervishes? No, it is not, at least not directly. Rather, it is named for the coffee blend incorporated into the beer: Organic Whirling Dervish Blend from Batdorf & Bronson coffee roasters.

One of our most popular drip coffees, Organic Whirling Dervish is also an excellent Espresso, featuring a harmonious mix of molasses, chocolate and cherry. This blend is named after Omar, a mystic and whirling dervish who legend tells was the first person to prepare coffee as a beverage, a discovery that earned him his sainthood.

I’m not so sure about that, but this is a pretty tasty beer. I paid $6.83 for a 23-ounce mug at Taco Mac, and you can get it in six-packs of cans for $9.99.

My mug of Monday Night Whirling Dervish Coffee Stout arrived jet-black in color with a thick creamy head and intense roasted coffee notes and grassy herbal hops in the nose. Taking a sip, the beer is smooth with a medium body, chocolate pudding and black coffee, roasty and grassy hop bitterness in the finish.

I found Monday Night Whirling Dervish Coffee Stout to be a solid dry Irish stout with coffee, roasty and delicious yet smooth and drinkable.
